Jacqueline "Jackie" Elaine Montgomery 48, born to the late Pastor Johnnie and Josephine Montgomery. She departed this earth on (Thursday) December 1, 2011.|
Jackie was a 1981 Graduate of Sterling High School and at the time of her death she was employed with H.I.S.D. for the past 27 years.
God placed a song in her heart at birth and she started singing as early as she spoke her first words. By four, her musical gifts expanded and she was playing the piano.
Jackie pursued her musical talents full force as a charter member of Kathy Taylor and the Choraleers which later became Kathy Taylor and Favor. A key component to the intricate melodies this group is known for, Jackie's voice was rich, colorful and powerful. Always a magical experience for any audience who heard her minister in song, her musical career stretched from Stellar Award performances to Minister of Music at Agape Community Church.
She served as pianist at churches throughout Houston such as Bayou Estates Missionary Baptist where Jackie's father pastored, Covenant Glen United Methodist, and St. Paul Missionary Baptist just to name a few.
Jackie leaves to mourn her departure four siblings: Johnnie Lee Emofor (Lucky), Joseph Montgomery (Dawn), Josette Harrison, and Jennifer Montgomery; along with a host of relatives and special friends.
