Jacquelyn Plumb Obituary
Jacquelyn "Jackie" Duncan Plumb passed away on December 15, 2011 in Houston, TX. She is survived by her husband, Ray E. Plumb, Jr; 4 children, Cathy Bell and family, Trey and Cathie Ann Plumb and family, Christie and Kelly Simmons and family and Bob and Jill Plumb and family; 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Jackie- or "Mom-o" as she was known to her family- was a ranch proprietor, an antique collector, a cook, a cancer survivor, a shopper, a devoted wife of 59 years, a loving mother, a doting grandmother and the heart of her family. Jackie was born on June 13, 1929 in Oklahoma City, OK. She attended Taft Junior High and Classen High School. She was band queen at Taft and joined Alpha Chi Omega at Oklahoma University. Ray and Jackie married on March 15, 1952. They moved to Lafayette, Louisiana and finally to Houston TX, as her husband followed the flow of oil. The two of them owned R&J Ranch in Briggs, TX for decades, breeding and selling Angus cattle and winning many prizes for their stock in the US and Canada, including "Breeder of the Year" in 1994. Jackie had a unique talent; she always made you feel as if you were the best version of yourself. Her lively energy and self-deprecating humor could make even the coldest stranger smile. She was a genuine friend to all. Jackie was known to drop a tear quicker than blinking, but they were always happy tears-her way of celebrating the fullness of life and everything. Any time you left her house, she never let you leave without knowing that there was someone who wanted to know where you were headed, someone who would take care of you if the trip went badly, someone who cared about you. She is and always will be our family's joy. Visitation will be held on Monday, December 19, 2011 from 11 am to 1 pm. The Funeral Service will be held on Monday, December 19, 2011, 2 pm. in the Chapel of Forest Park Westheimer. Visitation will be held from 11 am to 2 pm. Pallbearers will be, Ray E Plumb IV, Jay Bell, Caleb Simmons, Chris Simmons, Robert W Plumb, Jr and Chris Stockstill.
