Margaret Bowman Obituary
Margaret Virginia "Ginny" Bowman was born on January 25, 1921, in Pittsburg, PA to loving parents, John Boyd Nowlin and Margaret (Flynn) Nowlin. At 5:15pm on January 13, 2012, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ reached out His hand, and she placed hers into His, and joined Him in eternal peace. She was married to the love of her life, Chief Leon G. "Lee" Bowman USN (Ret.) on June 17, 1944 in San Diego, CA. after having met on a blind date the previous February, a date she almost cancelled. Their life together can only be described as total love, devotion, adventure, and commitment until Lee passed away on October 24th, 1988 in Corpus Christi, TX. Lee was career Navy, Ginny a career Navy wife. They traveled the world together, always as a family, wherever the Navy sent Lee; Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, Japan, the Philippines, but they always returned to their home, Corpus Christi, TX, with family growing at each duty station. They had seven children-Chery (Bowman) Worman and her husband Doug; Colonel Thomas Bowman USMC (Ret.) and his wife Joan; James Bowman and his wife Judy; Michael Bowman and his wife Dianne; John Bowman and his wife Karen; Patrick Bowman and his wife Cindi; and, Kathleen (Bowman) Hogan and her husband Roger. There were three unshakable pillars in the life of this wonderful woman - her Holy Catholic faith and daily devotion to Mary, Mother of God through the Rosary and Novena; her undying love and commitment to Lee Bowman from their very first date; and her gratitude and thankfulness every day that God blessed her with a long life in which to enjoy the love, affection, and joy of her seven children, 21 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 18, 2012 from 5pm to 7pm at Maxwell P. Dunne Funeral Home, 1222 Morgan Avenue, Corpus Christi, TX 78404 (361.884.2411). A celebration of her Catholic life and Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, January 19, 2012 at 10am at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 2233 Waldron Road (Flour Bluff), Corpus Christi, TX 78418 (361.937.3864) followed by burial at Seaside Memorial Park, 4357 Ocean Drive, Corpus Christi, TX 78412. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her honor to the Archdiocese of the Military Service, P.O. Box 4469, Washington, DC 20017-0469.
