Graciela McLeod Graciela Anita (Gracie) McLeod entered her heavenly home on January 12, 2012. She is preceeded in death by her father Leonel Lopez, step father Adolfo Ibanez, and grandmother Rosaura Vela. She is survived by her husband Bruce Erftmier, sons Christopher McLeod and Evan John Childers. She is also survived by her mother Delia Ibanez, sisters Cynthia Benavides (Robert), Norma Lopez, Sandra Byrd (Calvin) and numerous nieces and nephews. Many people were touched by Gracie's generous spirit, kind nature and loving heart. She was a person who believed in giving a helping hand to the causes and people she believed in. Gracie could fill a room with her smile, wonderful personality and sense of humor. She will indeed be missed by her family and friends too numerous to mention. Gracie's long battle with breast cancer was courageous and valiant. She never surrendered to the illness in spite of all the setbacks she encountered. In the end, she gave her body to science at the University of Texas Health Science Center in hopes that her ordeal could be studied and help advance a cure one day. Gracie's family would like to thank the staff at Memorial Hermann Hospital, M.D. Anderson and Hospice of Houston for their kindness and compassion throughout her illness. She found so many friends in these institutions that truly touched her life and she in turn touched theirs. Special thanks also to beloved niece Christine Wise for unselfish devotion and dedication given to her Aunt during this time. There is no service planned. In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests contributions be made to
in Gracie's name.
