William Ellerbe Godbold, Jr. , 89, passed away on Wednesday evening January 18, 2012. He was preceded in death by his wife, Louise. He is survived by two sons, Bill Godbold (Debbie) of Chattanooga, TN, Tom Godbold (Debbie) of Houston, TX and a daughter, Gayle Bell (Mike) of Austin, TX. His beloved grandchildren are Chris (Auburn, AL) Andrew (Chattanooga, TN), Ryan (Hong Kong), Meredith (Dallas, TX) and Katie (Houston, TX). He also leaves behind brother, Jack (Glendora) of Stone Mountain, Georgia, his loving companion and best friend Joy Godbold of Houston, TX and a host of loyal friends. Born on August 11, 1922, in Orangeburg County, S.C., he was the epitome of a true Southern gentleman personified by his grace, class, wit and charm. An authentic company man, he spent his entire 41 year career with Kraft Foods at various locations throughout the Southeast and Texas. He was an avid golfer and member of Champions Golf Club for more than 42 years. His family is at peace knowing, as he did, that he now resides in his eternal home. A family graveside service will be held at Mount Hebron United Methodist Church in West Columbia, SC.
