Jerome Goodman

Obituary Condolences

Jerome Goodman, 81, passed away on January 27, 2012 in the hospital near his home in Spring, Texas. He was a graduate of Kansas University with a BS in geology and Ohio State University with a MS in geology. Early in his career, he worked as a petroleum geologist for Texaco Corporation in New Orleans and Huber Oil Company in New Orleans and Houston, Texas. His move to Houston launched several successful ventures in the Oil and Gas exploration business, including his own Goodman Oil Company. His love of the exploration business and his particular expertise in the geology of South Louisiana were keys to his success.
He was a passionate lover of animals and supported numerous charitable organizations, including the DAWGS rescue shelter in Dalhard, Texas. His golden retriever, Buddy, a DAWGS alumnus, was his constant companion until his death.
He is predeceased by his Mother and Father, Esther and Morris Goodman from Hawaii and his brother, Sheldon Goodman from Chicago, Illinois. He is survived by his wife; Bertie Lou Goodman in Spring, Texas; his children, Robin and husband Kurt Stratmann in Houston, Texas, Brian and wife Rebecca Goodman in Helena, Montana, Britt and wife Janis Goodman in Austin, Texas, his step-son Desi and wife Suzanne Hall from Kenner, Louisiana; his grandchildren, Marie Goodman in Bozeman, Montana, Hannah Goodman from Los Angeles, California, Meredith Goodman from Austin, Texas and Olivia and Jeremy Stratmann from Houston, Texas.
The family wishes to thank Caregivers, Leisa Meyer, Teri Whittington and Terri Copland, for their love and support of Jerome in his home where he was the most comfortable.
A graveside service will be held on Sunday, January 29, 2012 at 3:00PM at Forest Park The Woodlands Cemetery.
