He was my favorite teacher and I never even knew to call him, "Doctor."

March 19, 2012

Mr. Teter was my chemistry teacher at Jones, and it was the first science class that I had ever had that I found interesting. When I started college, I had to take a chemistry placement test. I was afraid I would bomb out on the test, and I did my very best. Thanks to Mr. Teter's excellent teaching, I was in the top 25 students out of about 1,000 freshmen taking that placement test. I ran into him at several professional organization meetings as well as class reunions and it was always delightful to reminisce with him about our days at Jones H.S.

Please accept my deepest sympathy for Mr. Teter's passing. He had a profound effect on my professional life by allowing (after much badgering on my part) me to be the first female chemistry assistant at Jones. My world opened up as I fell in love with the lab. That experience was enough to get me my first job in a biomedical research lab - a profession that lasted 46 yrs. His kindness and intelligence, I will never forget.

Mr. Teter was a wonderful teacher and man. He was a delight and inspiration to us. It was always nice to see him at our Jones reunions--he seemed to enjoy being with us as much as we with him. My condolences to his family.

Mr. Teter made it a joy learning Chemistry, using his wonderful sense of humor, imaginative lessons & precision in labs! My spouse and I met in his class and always loved seeing him at reunions, catching up on news. We will miss him next month (our JHJones HS 50th reunion) but he will always be in our thoughts, and hearts.

ps. I wish that I could recall all of the practical jokes and demonstrations that we naive, unsuspecting inhabitants of his domain endured in the course of a semester! Needless to say, he kept us "on our toes" and alert...

Our deepest condolences. I join other students from JDHS in giving tribute to the instruction, the humor, the personality of Mr. Ralph Teter in his physics class. It was a period of the day that I always looked forward to and left feeling that I had benefited

Juanita and I would like to extend our most sincere condolences to the extended family.

Dr. Teter was my high school physics teacher at Jefferson Davis High School and was always encouraging the students to continue our education.

We missed Dr. Teter at our most recent reunion. When he could not attend our 55th on 15 Oct 2011, we knew the prognosis was not good.

God Bless the entire family.
