Debra (Debbie) Cockrill, age 54, passed away on April 7, 2012. Born in El Dorado, Arkansas, on October 7, 1957. She was an accountant extraordinaire, mentor, and best friend.
She was born to Edward and Athendean Tomlinson, who both preceded her in death, along with a sister, Joyce, and brother-in-law Thad Cooper. She was also preceded in death by John and Ozie McCoy, Orville Chester McCoy, Huey Chastain, Lauren Cooper, and Jason Cooper.
She is survived by her husband of 27 years, Jim, their sons Zackery and Ben, and dog Tootsie. She is also survived by JoNell Chastain, Sally McCoy, Brenda McCoy, Sara McCoy, James and Cindy McCoy, Jack Ammann, Bob Ammann, Mike and Kay Cooper, Fern Cooper, Larry and Laurie Cooper, and many, many more family members.
Debbie was a graduate of the University of Central Arkansas at Conway with a BBA in Business.
Debbie had a special knack for mentoring co-workers and friends alike, about the loss of a job, marital issues, money problems, and personal relationships of all kinds. She was always upbeat, and refused to allow the conversation to remain negative. She discounted stories of hardship and misery, with a great outlook for tomorrow and the future. She left you with a feeling of hope, and a fresh outlook on life. She was sincere, intelligent, giving, and caring. Her sons loved her dearly with all their hearts. "A" students do not happen accidentally, and this was all accomplished under her supervision.
Services will be held at Settegast-Kopf Sugar Land, located at 15015 Southwest Freeway on Saturday, April 14, 2012 at 1:00 PM. Reverend Matt Barnhill of RiverPointe Church will be presiding over the services.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the Zackery and Ben Cockrill College Fund, c/o Jim Cockrill, 2121 Sage Rd, Suite 150, Houston, Texas 77056-4341.
