Daniel James Daniel J. (Pete) Petroski, Jr., 52, of Copper Lakes, Houston was unexpectedly taken from us Saturday, May 26, 2012 in Blanco, TX. Pete is survived by his wife, Jennifer (McWade); daughters, Katie, Lauren and Danielle; his parents, Daniel J. and Margaret Petroski; sister, Susan Petroski Poulos and her husband, John Poulos; his mother-in-law, Carolyn McWade, one niece and four nephews.|
Born in Pasadena, TX, Pete grew up in Spring Branch and graduated tenth in his Northbrook High School class of 1978. He excelled not just in academics but also in both football and baseball. After attending San Jacinto Junior College, where he continued to play baseball, he transferred to Texas A&M and earned a degree in accounting. Pete continued his education and received his CPA license, then went on to earn a law degree from the University of Houston Law Center. Before setting up his own law practice, Pete worked for various plaintiff and defense law firms. He had a hearty entrepreneurial spirit and kept involved with several local business ventures, while keeping his can-do attitude and attaining professional results.
Pete would tell you he was a "Problem Solver", but others will remember him as a proud, loving, hands-on husband and father. He was known for his generous heart and his inability to say "No" to anyone in need. His family will remember him as the dad who studied martial arts with Katie and Lauren; the best 'extra' in his daughter, Danielle's yearly Nutcracker performances and the husband who supported Jennie's loving efforts to rehabilitate injured and orphaned wildlife, among so many other things. Theirs was a family that enjoyed traveling and experienced family trips to everywhere from Alaska to the Galapagos Islands. Pete was an avid squash payer and worked out diligently at his local YMCA. He was also a popular member of the Dirty Swamp Cookers Bar-B-Que cook-off team at the Houston Rodeo. Pete was a proud Aggie but, none-the-less, supported all of his daughters' decisions to go to UT and even begrudgingly supported Bevo!
He will be remembered and missed by many.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 2, at 10:00a.m. at the Cornerstone United Methodist Church, 18081 West Road, Houston, TX; with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations on behalf of Pete's memory to either-:
Langham Creek Family YMCA, 16725 Longenbaugh Dr., Houston, TX 77095; or
The Texas Wildlife rehabilitation Center, 10801 Hammerly Blvd. #200, Houston, TX 77043
