Sarah Tarpley Lehmberg, age 24, died unexpectedly on Saturday, the 16th of June 2012, in Annapolis, Maryland. Sarah was born on the 21st of February 1988, in Houston, Texas.
She attended River Oaks Baptist School and Episcopal High School, both in Houston, and graduated from high school at Montana Academy in Kalispell, Montana. She received her Bachelor of Arts in communications and marketing from Goucher College in Baltimore, Maryland. At the time of her death, she was working for a cosmetics company in Annapolis, Maryland. Sarah was a lifelong Episcopalian and member of The Church of St. John the Divine in Houston.
Sarah was a beautiful young woman with a radiant smile and great sense of humor. Sarah enjoyed playing many sports, including soccer, basketball, and rollerblade hockey. She loved music, enjoyed playing the guitar, and, in her youth, singing in the Children's Choir at St. John the Divine.
She is survived by her mother, Sarah B. Lehmberg; her father, Gary V. Lehmberg; her brother, John B. Lehmberg, all of Houston; her uncle, William H. Blodgett, Jr., of Charlottesville, Virginia; her cousins, Morgan E. Price, of San Antonio, Texas, Martha L. Price, of Amarillo, Texas, and Ann R. Castleberry, of Plainview, Texas; her godmothers, Sara C. Armstrong, of Roswell, New Mexico, Adita L. Root, of Houston, and Barbara D. Pitts, of Austin, Texas; her godfathers, William D. McCollum, of Houston, and John R. Pitts, of Houston; and a host of friends. She was predeceased by her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Virgil E. Lehmberg, of Houston, and Mr. and Mrs. William H. Blodgett, of Breckenridge, Texas.
The memorial service is to be conducted at one o'clock in the afternoon on Friday, the 22nd of June, at The Church of St. John the Divine, 2450 River Oaks Boulevard in Houston, where the Rev. Dr. Laurens A. Hall, Rector, and the Rev. Dr. Douglas W. Richnow, Senior Associate Rector, are to officiate. The committal service and inurnment is to immediately follow in the adjacent Garden of the Resurrection.
Afterwards, all are invited to greet the family during a reception to be held in Sumners Hall.
