Helen Patterson Obituary
Helen Emily McCabe Patterson
(nee Korinek) born October 21, 1918 in Crosby, TX passed away in Houston, TX on 9-26-2012 where she had lived most of her life. Helen was preceded in death by her mother and father, William and Helen Korinek, and her husbands, Bernard McCabe and Pat Patterson. Helen graduated from Rice Institute (1940) and at the beginning of WWII joined Civil Service as a mechanic on B-17 bombers, Duncan Field, San Antonio. She worked for the Houston Independent School District for 36 years as a 4th and 6th grade teacher and 25 years as a counselor at Hamilton Middle School. She was a long time member of trinity Lutheran Church in Houston since her confirmation in 1933.
Helen is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Bernadine and Gary Coley of Appleton, WI, a son and daughter-in-law, Dale and Patty McCabe of Santa Ana, CA, a granddaughter, Julie Coley of Appleton, WI, a grandson and wife Greg and Sherry Coley of Appleton, WI, a granddaughter, Molly McCabe Laqua of Montgomery, TX, a beloved brother and sister-in-law, William (Bill) and Allene Korinek of Hattiesburg, MS, a niece, Diana Korinek Navarre of Houma, LA, a nephew and wife, Alan and Eunice Korinek of Lubbock, TX, a nephew and wife Barry and Leslie Korinek of Charlotte, NC, two great nieces and a great nephew, Emily, Allison, and Mark Korinek of Lubbock, TX, and three great nephews, Ian, Jason and Jeremy Navarre of Houma, LA.
She will be dearly missed by all of her family and friends, who are comforted by knowing that she is at rest with her Savior and her parents. The family expresses its appreciation and gratitude to her care-givers, especially Ivory, Amanda and Geraldine.
Visitation will be held from 5 - 8 pm on 10-1-12 at Heights Funeral Home, 1317 Heights Blvd. The funeral will be held at 10am on 10-2-2012 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 800 Houston Ave., with Pastor Donald Black officiating. Burial will be at Sterling White Cemetery, Highlands, TX. Honorary pall bearers are Greg Coley, John Swoboda, Darrel Swoboda, Dru Swoboda, Alan Korinek, Barry Korinek, Mark Korinek, Ian Navarre, Jason Navarre and Jeremy Navarre. Services are under the direction of Sterling White Funeral Home in Highlands, TX.
