Percy Eugene McWhorter, 91, of Houston, Texas peacefully passed away Wednesday, October 24, 2012 at the Grace Care Nursing Center, Cypress, Tx. Born January 20, 1921 in Center, Tx., he was a World War II veteran serving in the North Atlantic with the U.S. Coast Guard on the ice breaker "USS Eastwind". He was a member of the Frank Sexton Masonic Lodge and the First Baptist Church in Pittsburg, TX.

Percy was preceded in death by his loving wife of 68 years, Hazel McWhorter; his parents, Plez and Effie McWhorter; brothers, Harmon McWhorter, Roy McWhorter; and sister-in-law Elise McWhorter.
Percy is survived by his three daughters: Sherry Allison and husband Larry of Cypress, Judy McWhorter of Houston, and Glenda Shepherd and her husband John of Conroe. Five grandchildren: Stephanie Weddington, April Holliday, Tommy Jacobs, Audrey Meyer, and Ashley Anderson. Four great-grandchildren: Chance, Meghan, Abby and Logan. Sisters: Ruth Weaver and Ruby Campbell; and sister-in-law Mae McWhorter.
Percy showed love and compassion to everyone, and was a positive influence on the lives of many people. He will be truly missed by all.
Friends may visit the family at Rosewood Funeral Home 2602 South Houston Ave. Humble, Tx. 77396 on Saturday morning, October 27, 2012 from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.
