Thomas Eley Beller, Jr., 89, passed away in Houston, TX on Friday, Jan. 25, 2013. He was born on July 12, 1923 in Tamaha, OK to Mittie Carl Doby & Thomas Eley Beller, Sr. Tom attended Oklahoma State; he left school to join the US Navy when WWII started.

He served in the S. Pacific and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for his service. After receiving an Honorable Discharge, he attended the Univ. of Washington and graduated in 1949 with a degree in Economics. While in school Tom recognized Houston's economic potential and decided that Houston was to be the place to call home and raise his family. He received his Law Degree in 1959 from the South TX College of Law and practiced law in the Houston area until 2005. Tom was a member of Houston's First Baptist Church for many years before joining Park Place Baptist. Tom was involved in various activities and clubs including the Houston Tidelanders Barbershop Chorus in the 1970's. Tom's family, friends and the practice of law were the true joys of his life. After retiring from the practice of law, the Houston Club became his outlet for debating any and all topics, which he loved to do. His friendships at the Houston Club were very dear to him and the camaraderie he enjoyed kept Tom young in both his heart and mind. Tom was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years Eleanor Ruth Beller, and son Thomas E. Beller, II.
He is survived by son: Michael Beller & wife Debbie; daughters: Charlotte Hebert & husband Elliott, Denyse Hines & husband Tony and Rosemary Modic & husband Patrick; daughter-in-law Cathy Beller; brother Leo Beller & wife Mary Frances; dear friend Linda Henry; 15 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral Services with Brother Tony Hines officiating will be held at 2PM on Thurs., 2/7, at the Houston National Cemetery with Military Honors by VFW Dist. #4.
