Houston's beloved songbird Norma Zenteno passed into the hands of our Lord peacefully on Friday, February 22, 2013 in Houston, Texas. She was surrounded by her husband, her mother, her brothers and her children.
Norma was born on June 27, 1952 in Monterrey, Mexico. She received her first electric guitar from her father, acclaimed trumpet player Roberto Zenteno, at the age of 11. Since then, she and her family have built a successful career performing for generations of loyal and loving fans.
Norma is preceded in death by her father Roberto Zenteno and her grandparents. She is survived by husband Steven Shaw; mother, Elsa Zenteno; brothers, Robert, Ernesto, David and Javier; children, Angela, Victor, Anthony and Miles; stepchildren, Logan & Nicole and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Norma was a beautiful woman with a kind and generous spirit and a remarkable talent. She always made you feel like her best friend and was so humble. She will be missed tremendously by her family, her friends and by the many people whose lives she touched with her love and her music.
Memorial Services for Norma are scheduled for Friday, March 1, 2013 at The Catholic Charismatic Center, 1949 Cullen Blvd., Houston, Texas. A Remembrance Service will begin at 10:00 a.m. and the Requiem Mass will take place at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Salvatore F. DeGeorge, OMI, Officiating. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Zenteno Sound Productions, P.O. Box 230677 Houston, Texas 77223-0677.
