Jo Marilyn Campbell Kingsbury died on March 3 at St. Luke's hospital, age 88, after a massive stroke, followed immediately by a major heart attack, on top of ongoing lung cancer. Marilyn fought for life every inch of the way. Born and raised in Houston, she graduated from Lamar High School in 1941. She was a beauty -one of the "Ten Most Beautiful Freshmen" at the University of Texas- a talented pianist, and a loyal friend. Like her mother and sister, Marilyn was a marvelous storyteller, finding humor in ordinary places and everyday events. For many years she worked as a medical stenographer, but her true love was the piano.
The Guest Book is expired.
She is preceded in death by her parents, James Monroe Campbell and Bess Hiett Campbell, and sister, Natalie Campbell Martinez-Lopez; and survived by her son, John T. Kuhn of Mountain View, CA, who believes that she taught him unselfishness by example. She put others first, especially him. Cousins, lifelong friends, and wonderful neighbors at her Cummins St. home mourn her passing.
A graveside service at Forest Park West is pending.
