Reverend Monsignor Donald James Frugé died on April 19 of cancer. He was 79 years old. He is survived by five sisters and four brothers-in-law: Elizabeth and her husband, Roger E. Gonsoulin of Maurice, Louisiana; Marjorie A. Frugé; Barbara and her husband, Dr. William H. Boylston; Yvonne and her husband, C. Kenneth Breaux; and Tessie and her husband, Dr. Guy K. Patterson, all of Houston. He was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel H. Frugé and Leah LaFosse Frugé; by his two brothers, Daniel J. Frugé and Reverend Monsignor Edward D. Frugé; and by one sister, Leah Jane Hodges. Survivors also include many nieces and nephews.

Monsignor Frugé was ordained a priest of the Roman Catholic Church on April 22, 1972, for the service of the Diocese of Galveston-Houston. Following ordination, he served as Judicial Vicar for the Tribunal in Houston. In 1981, he was awarded a doctorate in Canon Law (JCD) at The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. In 1986, he was given permission to accompany Bishop John McCarthy, the third Bishop of Austin, where he served as Finance Officer and Vicar General for the Diocese of Austin.
Monsignor Frugé was a member and former officer of the Canon Law Society of America. He was also a member of the Canon Law of Great Britain and Ireland. He was a veteran of the United States Army. Funeral arrangements are private.
