Wanda Petro Obituary
Wanda Elizabeth Petro 77, passed away May 2, 2013 at her home in Montgomery Texas. She was born at home in the Harlingen Texas area on September 29, 1935 to Elsie and Jack O'Rear of La Feria Texas who preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband of 59 years John "Jack" Petro, son John Petro Jr., daughter Dianne Petro, brother Philip O'Rear and wife Laurel, granddaughters Jennifer and Madeline Petro, nephew Eric O'Rear, niece Felicia and husband Ron Bruno and their daughter Harli.
In her high school career, she was active in a variety of school activities and sports and served as Head Drum Major of the La Feria Texas High School marching band and she was valedictorian of her graduating class of 1953. She always had a meticulous attention to detail and loved reading about history and staying abreast of current events. She and Jack made many friends while he served in the United States Air Force that have endured to the present day.
Lovingly she would jump at the chance to talk about the accomplishments of her granddaughters Jennifer and Madeline of Memphis Tennessee.
A friend once said that Wanda never met a stranger. She loved to travel and had friends all over this wonderful world.
When she was able she loved the games of Golf and Bridge and loved to read a good mystery novel.
