Virginia Heacock

Obituary Condolences

Virginia Fern Heacock went to be with her Savior Jesus Christ on May 19, 2013. Virginia was born on December 22, 1924 in Augusta, Indiana to Frank and Clyde Richeson Heacock. She had one brother, James Franklin Heacock, who also preceded her in death. Virginia's Mother died in March 1925 so Virginia's maternal Grandmother, Sarah Elizabeth Richeson, reared her until her death. Then Virginia moved to New London, Texas during her late teens where she was reared by her Uncle and Aunt, Charlie and Attie Richeson.
Virginia joined Humble Oil and Refining (currently ExxonMobil) in East Texas on April 16, 1945 where she began a long, fulfilling, and valued career. She started her career as a telephone operator and within a couple of days was promoted to payroll clerk. By the time she retired from Exxon U.S.A. on August 1, 1986 she had become an administrator for business systems projects. Virginia enjoyed reading, traveling the world, going to the symphony, and playing bridge with her many friends. She was a faithful member of the Westbury Church of Christ and had a very sweet, kind, and generous spirit. Virginia always loved school and had always wished she would have had the opportunity to go to college. On March 25, 1995 Virginia established the Virginia Heacock Endowment Foundation which was later transferred to Abilene Christian University on December 31, 2011. This Foundation leaves an enduring legacy for generations to come by providing yearly scholarships to many students who are majoring in various business degrees in the Christian environment at ACU. Virginia was laid to rest at Forest Park Westheimer on May 23. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, June 6, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Westbury Church of Christ located at 10424 Hillcroft St., Houston, TX 77096. In lieu of flowers, please send memorial gifts to the "Virginia Heacock Endowment Foundation" at Abilene Christian University; C/O The ACU Foundation; ACU Box 29200; Abilene, TX 79699-9200.
