RUTH HANNAH ISENBERG LANDIS, passed away July 4th, 2013 after a long illness. She was born in Toledo Ohio, the daughter of Florence and Moses Isenberg. She graduated from Scott High School and attended Toledo University. As a talented musician and pianist, she soloed with the Toledo Symphony while still in high school and later with the El Paso Symphony while her children proudly watched. While a young mother, she earned her Bachelor's degree in education from the University of Texas at El Paso (formerly Texas Western University). She later earned a Master's degree in music from the University of Houston while working as a music teacher. She taught music in the Houston Independent School District for more than twenty-five years and was recognized as Teacher of the Year at Herod Elementary. She shared her love of music with all, and each year she dedicated many hours preparing her students for the school's holiday pageants. In her spare time, she taught piano and hosted her students' recitals in her home for their families. However, she would tell you that her greatest accomplishments were her children: Julie of Houston, married to Fred Wolgel; David of New York, married to Ellen Neuborne; Michael of Houston, and Lynne of Los Alamos, NM. She was also delighted to be the grandmother to Brian Deitch, Allison Wolgel, and Henry and Leslie Landis. She touched each person's life with her warmth and love. The family would like to thank the staff at Autumn Years and Virginia, Karen and LaRoysha at Life Pointe Hospice and Home Health for their love and care of Ruth during her last years. Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. Sunday, July 7th at Beth Yeshurun Cemetery, 1001 N. Post Oak Road.
