Dorothy Langwith Maxwell Dorothy Langwith Maxwell was born in Terrell, Texas on September 11, 1919 and she passed away on July 2, 2013. She graduated from Terrell High School in 1936 and from Southern Methodist University in 1940. There she competed with other universities as a member of the SMU calculus tem and at graduation received the Flanz Award in Mathematics. She was a member of Mortar Board and of SMU's honorary society which in 1949 became Phi Beta Kappa. After graduate work in statistics at the University of Iowa, she joined Acacia Mutual Life Insurance Company in Washington, D.C.. After the outbreak of World War II and wishing to be nearer to her family she moved to Fidelity Union Life Insurance Company in Dallas where she became the first woman Insurance Executive in that city.

She and Donald Red Maxwell were married in 1958 after her move to Houston to join Lincoln Liberty Life. In 1981 they retired to Woodcreek adjoining Wimberley where they lived until moving to Montgomery in 2006. Shortly after celebrating their fiftieth wedding anniversary, Don passed away in November 2008. Until her passing, Dorothy lived at the Heritage Oaks Assisted Living Center in Conroe. She was an active Christian Scientist having served terms as Second Reader in the Christian Science Societies in Wimberley and San Marcos.
She is predeceased by her brother, John Edmund Langwith. She is survived by her sister-in-law Diane Langwith of Houston and several nieces and nephews, including James Maxwell of Conroe, David Maxwell of Austin, John Langwith of Omaha, Nebraska, Sarah Langwith Brown of Sedona, Arizona, and Elizabeth Langwith of New York City.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, July 13, 2013 at Forest Park West Mausoleum Chapel.
