1916 - 2013 Obituary Condolences
Weldon Aubrey Langley was born July 26, 1916, and entered Heaven on July 12, 2013. He is preceded in death by his parents, siblings and a son. He is survived by his wife of 75 years, Dorothy Lee Langley, daughter Ann Roubion, foster son Tom Turnipseed (Marcia), grandchildren Robert Roubion (Cortney), John Roubion (Joni), David Roubion (Tracy), Carin Adermann (Dean), Dr. Jeff Yonker, Ellyn Turnipseed, 10 great grandchildren: Meredith Pitkin (Colton), Andrea Garcia (Nick), Bethany Roubion (Jett Hankamer), Rebecca Miller, Jake Miller, Aimee Roubion, Courtney Roubion, Wilson Roubion, Ryan Roubion and Weston Roubion. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and other extended family.
Weldon and Dorothy Lee Wilson married on July 26, 1937, his 21st birthday. He was a graduate of Baylor University and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and pastored several churches in Texas before beginning a long career as a hospital chaplain. In 1954 he became Director of Missions for Galveston Baptist Association and the first chaplain of any denomination at University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, that position jointly funded by GBA and the Baptist General Convention of Texas. In 1960 he became Chaplain and Head of the Religion Department at Baptist Hospital of Southeast Texas, a position he held until his retirement in 1985. He continued helping at the hospital on a part-time basis for several more years and served as pastoral care interim at First Baptist Church, Beaumont, for about a year during that time frame. He is loved and held in deep respect by all to whom he ministered during his lifetime.
In 1989, Weldon and Dorothy moved to Clear Lake and joined Nassau Bay Baptist Church where his memorial service will be held Tuesday, July 16, 10:00 am with Graveside service in Huntsville TX at 3:00 pm. Visitation will be at Crowder Funeral Home, 1645 Main St, League City Monday, July 15, 6:00-8:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Sanctuary Building Fund of Nassau Bay Baptist Church, 18131 Nassau Bay Dr, Houston TX 77058.
