Arnold Cahill Obituary
Arnold James "Arnie" Cahill, family man, world traveler and card game connoisseur, died August 1, 2013 in The Woodlands, Texas. He was 83.
Arnie was born in Rockwood, MI on June 14, 1930. He graduated from Catholic Central High School in Monroe, MI and received both his undergraduate degree in Chemistry and Master's degree in Business Administration from the University of Detroit. After college he served in post-WWII Germany becoming a ferocious bowler and making lifelong friends.
Arnie married Loretta Jean Gidilewich on June 6, 1959. They recently celebrated their 54th anniversary.
Arnie's professional career in marketing management in the plastics and petrochemicals industry for Gulf Oil and Chevron led him and the family to Houston, Texas.
Arnie embraced competition wholeheartedly, whether playing sports with his three brothers, singing joyfully in church or wrestling with his five sons and his grandchildren. He loved playing card games, especially bridge with his wife as his partner, or team gin rummy where he had a scoring method so arcane, his kids were never sure which side was winning.
Because of his career, he traveled quite often to Europe, Asia and South America, making friends everywhere he went. He loved watching westerns, reading and living his faith.
Arnie loved laughter.
He also loved family dearly. Arnie is survived by his wife, Jean, five sons and one daughter: Patrick and his wife, Donna, of The Woodlands, Jim and his wife, Deb, of Austin, TX, Dan of Houston, TX, Bob and his wife, Tara, of Dallas, TX, Suzanne and her husband, Mark, of Amarillo, TX, Mark and his wife Karen of The Woodlands as well as grandchildren Sean, Shannon, Kate, Claire, Meg, Scott, Colleen, Megan, Alex, Andrew, Kathleen and Joseph.
Arnie's funeral mass will be 10 am, Friday, August 9 at Sts. Simon and Jude Catholic Parish in The Woodlands.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to MD Anderson Cancer Center, CASA Child Advocates of Montgomery County, or Class Act Productions.
