Sister Moira Noonan Obituary
Sister Moira Noonan, CCVI, a Sister of Charity of the Incarnate Word, Houston, Texas passed away on August 8, 2013. May she now enjoy God's presence for all eternity. Sister Moira was born in Knockbeha, Caher, Feakle, Co. Clare, Ireland to James and Mary (Walsh) Noonan in 1937. She entered the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word in May 1951 at St. Michael's Convent Co. Clare, Ireland. In September 1952, her formation continued upon her arrival at Villa de Matel, where she made her Perpetual Profession of Vows on December 8, 1959.
Sister Moira received her education as a licensed vocational nurse in Lake Charles, LA at the Sowela Technical Institute. Subsequent to that she received further education in Clinical Electrocardiography at the International Medical Education Corporation in Englewood, Colorado. These qualifications served her well during her service to the aged and children, as well as her role as EKG/EEG Supervisor at San Bernadine Hospital, San Bernardino, California. Sister Moira was also the Administrator at El Hogar de Mi Hermano, a center for the elderly and poor, who are without family member to care for them, in Equipulas, Guatemala from 1989 until 2001. In July 2000, she received an outstanding Person Award from the Municipality of Esquipulas, Chiquimula, Guatemala, recognizing her social and religious work. Sister was a person full of joy, spontaneity, kindheartedness, consideration and empathy, qualities which were much appreciated among those to whom she ministered.
Sister Moira is survived by her brothers: Joseph of Co. Clare, Ireland and Seamus, now residing in England; a sister, Christina Collins of Lowville, New York; sister-in-law Bess Ann Noonan of Rocky River, Ohio and several nieces and nephews.
We wish to extend our thanks to the nursing staff and all who cared for Sister during her illness at St. Anne Convent.
Sister Moira's body will be received at the Immaculate Conception Chapel, Villa de Matel, 6510 Lawndale Street, Houston, Texas at 5:00 P.M. on Sunday August 11, 2013 followed by Evening Praise and a celebration of her life. Mass of Christian Burial will be held in the Immaculate Conception Chapel at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, August 12, 2013. The Rite of Committal will follow at Villa de Matel Cemetery.
