In the early morning hours of September 13, 2013, Donnie L. Speer of Houston, TX passed away, concluding a hard-fought battle with cancer. A funeral service will be held Saturday, September 21st , at 10 AM at Klein Funeral Home in Tomball, TX. Visitation will be held from 6-8 PM on Friday, September 20th at Klein Funeral Home. Burial will follow the funeral at Klein Cemetery in Tomball. Donnie leaves a legacy of kindness and goodwill that has improved the lives of so many around her. Those who knew her loved her and knew that she was there for them to support and help them always. Her gracious spirit of humble caring will be remembered and cherished by her friends and family. Born in San Antonio on December 29, 1951, Donnie lived her childhood in San Antonio, where she graduated from Robert E. Lee High School. On May 25, 1971, Donnie was married to John H. Speer with whom she raised four children in Houston. She remained active in multiple organizations, including the Klein ISD FFA program. Donnie is survived by her mother - Viola Peters, brother - Harold Peters, four children - Shawn, Grant, Marisa, and Kelly, multiple grandchildren and many people whose lives she touched. She is preceded in death by her father, Marvin Peters and mother in law, Katy Hendrickson. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to Barnyard Buddies (Barnyard Buddies, C/O Mike Klein, 6619 Klein Cemetery Road, Klein, TX. 77379). The family of Donnie wishes to thank everyone for supporting Donnie in her fight. As we grieve the loss of this amazing woman we find solace in the knowledge that long before cancer had waged its battle on her body she had already beaten it. A lifetime of kind acts and loving moments have impacted the world around Donnie in a way that cannot be erased despite our loss of her earthly body.
