Nannie Joyce Kupfer age 78 was serenaded by angles on October 24, 2013 as she joined her Savior in her heavenly home.|
Mrs. Kupfer was born May 4, 1935 in Kemp, Texas to George and Berah Williamson. She grew up in Houston, Texas. Music played a big part of her childhood as she spent hours practicing the piano. She could play anything from Chopsticks to Ragtime to Anthems or Hymns. Joyce graduated from Milby High School where she was a twirler in the band.
Joyce married the love of her life, Gert Kupfer on April 2, 1962. Being the wife of a career serviceman allowed the two of them along with their children to travel and live in Germany, Ft. Hood, Ft. Sill and Ft. Huachuca. Upon Gert's retirement from the Army, they moved back to Houston.
Joyce devoted her life to caring for her family. You could often find her in the kitchen or in her sewing room. Like her mother, she was an excellent seamstress. She also spent hours crocheting and quilting. She was a member of the Kingwood Hospital Quilting Group. The last quilt she made won the Best of Show in the Wildflower Quilt Show. Many family members and friends received quilts or blankets made with her love.
Joyce was a lifetime member of T.O.P.S., where she served in various positions of leadership. Over the years she worked at maintaining her goals and building friendships with the women in each of the groups she was a part of.
Joyce was a member of Second Baptist Church in Kingwood, where she attended the Silverbells Sunday School class. She loved Southern gospel music, especially the Cathedrals, Gaithers and Selah. She was also involved in Celebrate Recovery.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Gert Kupfer of New Caney; five children, Debbie McDaniel and her husband Jerry, of Pearland; Sherry Stanfield and her husband Jackie, of Linden; Charles Henderson and his wife Debbie, of Cypress; Mike Kupfer and wife Christy, New Caney; and Julie Evans and her husband Skip, of New Caney; Ten grandchildren, Michelle Murdock, Chris McDaniel, Ryan McDaniel, Jana Fowler, Missy Lee, David Stanfield, Justin Stanfield, Jonathon Morris, Howie Evans and Aileen Evans; 20 great-grandchildren, Riley Murdock, Dawson Murdock, Devon Murdock, Jordan McDaniel, Elise McDaniel, Summer McDaniel, Brooke Fowler, Kody McDaniel, Mason McDaniel, Todd Fowler, Reagan Lee, Jackson Lee, Ashlyn Lee,Kamryn Lee, Donovan Stanfield, Michale Stanfield, Azlynne Stanfield, Chase Richardson, Caitlyn Stanfield and Jett Stanfield; one sister, Mary Payne; one brother, Jerry Williamson; several nieces, one nephew and host of friends.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, George and Berah Williamson and two great-grandchildren Braedyn and Parker McDaniel.
Family visitation will be from 5-7PM on Friday, October 25th. Funeral service will be held at 9AM on Saturday, October 26th at Brookside with Rev. Jackie Stanfield officiating. Interment will follow in Brookside Memorial Park.
