Vincent Lee Roby, Jr.'s soul passed into the hands of the Lord January 5, 2014. Vince was born on July 15, 1925, and lived most of his life in Houston, TX. He served in the US Army during World II, assigned to the 3rd Platoon, Company G, 108th Infantry, 40th Infantry Division. He fought in three South Pacific battles, was wounded twice in action and earned nine medals including the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. He was a 1952 graduate of the University of Texas and retired in 1980 after a successful business career. He later moved to April Sound in Montgomery, TX, where he held several leadership positions in the April Sound Country Club and served on the April Sound POA Board. In 2003 he Co-Founded the April Sound Men's Club and also formed the "70 Niners" and the Couples Golf Group. He also served as President of the Foundation for the Crighton Players in Conroe, TX. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved golf, hunting and fishing. Most importantly, Vince loved his Lord and Saviour! He was an active member of April Sound Church. He is survived by Dorothy Roby; daughters Patricia Roby Gillespie, LeAnn Roby Kerr and her husband Stephen Kerr, and their mother Helen Roby; grandchildren Lauran Kerr-Heraly, Brian Gillespie, Allison Dean, Tracy Gillespie; great grandchildren Daphne Kerr-Heraly, Caleb and Hannah Dean; and step-children Tony and Karen Deaton, Sam Deaton, Jaimi deWaardt and her children, Bert, Paul and Lisa. A memorial service will be held at April Sound Church in Montgomery, TX, on Sunday, January 19, at 2:00 pm.
