Dr. Dan the Bandage Man as I first knew him as a young child. He treated/cared for/operated on many thousands of people in Southwest Houston until he retired. Dr. Dan was a very intelligent and compassionate doctor/surgeon with incomparable skills and bedside manner. He was admired by collegues, friends, and family. To this day, not a week passes that someone doesn't ask me about and/or recalls fond memories of Dr. Dan and his wonderful family. My heart and prayers go out to you all. We lost a great man who excelled in everything he did...outstanding husband, father, grandfather, friend, doctor, brother in Christ, golfer, and outdoorsman.

May God bless Marie, Vicky, Dan, Mark, Jenny and their families during this time and always.

On Easter Sunday 1958, my brother and I were enjoying the holiday at our Grandparents house on Mulberry Lane in Bellaire, throwing around this new thing called a "Frisbee". He threw it right into an evergreen tree, and I dutifully went in after it, diving headfirst into a nest of yellowjackets. Needless to say, I got popped about 9 times on the head and the results were not good! My mom called our "new" family doctor at home, who was probably enjoying quality time with his own family; back then, physicians woulod give you a home number to call if you had any needs. He said to meet him at his office that was located in the little building across from the Weingarten's store in Bellaire at the time; he said "you need to hurry". He actually beat us there and I remember him telling me with a laugh "your head looks like a Mickey Mouse Balloon". We all laughed, but I hurt! He was going to give me a shot, and told me to pull down my pants; I guess his daughter had come with him, but she was close enough to my age, and cute, and I said "do I have to?" he looked at her and asked her to please leave the room; I got my shots. I remember him telling my mother that if we had been about 3-5 minutes later, he could not have helped me. He called at least twice a day for a few days to check on me! We relocated in Houston, and changed doctors, but I did have the opportunity about years later to thank him for his sacrifice of his "family time on Easter Sunday" to help us out. I also remember my Grandmother saying "I may change doctors, he is SO handsome!" I just want to thank the family for sharing this gentleman, and I feel like I speak for many by saying that Dr. Dan ememplified what a doctor is supposed to be, and I was honored to have known him
