Lucrecia Cox Obituary
Lucrecia's passions in life were poetry, literature, music, travel, gardening, and learning. She was a season ticket holder to the Houston Ballet and Houston Grand Opera for many years and also frequently attended events with the Houston Symphony Orchestra, Alley Theater, Museum of Fine Arts Houston, Rice University Media Center, TUTS, Progressive Forum, and The Brilliant Lecture Series.
Lucrecia was a member of the First Unitarian Universalist Church of Houston for 50 years. She was involved in many activities at the church, included her beloved Poetry Group.
Lucrecia is survived by her three children, Sue, Gigi and Ralph, as well as her many friends in Houston, in Colombia, and throughout the world, that were a positive and very important part of her life. She was predeceased by her parents and her three siblings. Lucrecia is also survived by many family members in Colombia including her sister-in law, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Lucrecia's family and friends would like to extend their thanks to the medical professionals at Memorial Hermann Hospital TMC, especially the STICU staff and Lucrecia's surgeons, for their excellent care and compassion.
A memorial service celebrating Lucrecia's life will be held at the First Unitarian Universalist Church, 5200 Fannin St., Houston, on Saturday, March 8, 2014 at 4:00 p.m. A reception at the church will follow.

My condolocenses to the bereaved family of Ms. Lucrecia Cox. I had the good fortune of working with Ms. Cox during the late 1980's as a work study student in the library at the University of Houston. I remember her charming demeanor, her raspy voice, and that lovely smile. I was so sad to read this obituary, but I immediately thought of the fond memories I had with Ms. Cox. I take comfort in knowing that heaven is now equipped with the best Librarian earth had to offer. Rest in peace Ms. Cox.

When I first meet Lucrecia I was 13 years old she was a very dear friend of my mother Gloria P. Cavazos worked also with her at The University of Houston Library. My most memorable memory of her is taking me to see my 1st Houston Ballet Nutcracker. Lucrecia was a angel and will be truly miss. My deepest condolence to the family.
