Joseph Lawrence Tita, 82, formerly of Houston, passed away in Denver, Colorado on March 10, 2014.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Britt Tita; daughter Kris Tita of Denver; daughter Stephanie and son-in-law Bill Lawrence of Denver; son Michael and daughter-in-law Wendy Tita of Austin, Texas; and grandchildren Anna and Jake Lawrence and Marcus and Alexander Tita.
Born July 2, 1931 in New York City, Joe graduated from Fordham University in 1952 and served as a jet pilot in the U.S. Air Force before graduating from the University of Texas Law School in 1959. Joe began his legal career as a litigation associate with Joe Jamail, then continued his civil litigation practice as the principal or senior partner in his own firms. In 1980, he joined Interfin Corporation, where he was instrumental in development of the Four-Leaf Towers and Four Oaks Place. In 1990, Joe founded the ADR Group, where he specialized in mediation of complex, multi-party disputes. During his 40 years in Houston, Joe contributed to his community by, among other things, serving on the Board of Trustees for the Houston Grand Opera and the Boards of Uptown Houston and the Covenant House of Texas. Joe was a caring and honorable man who will be dearly missed by his loving wife and family and all others who knew and loved him.
A private family service celebrating Joe's life was held on March 12. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Joe's name may be made to The Denver Hospice in Denver, Colorado.
