Marian Knight Obituary
Marian Rose Knight passed away on March 16, 2014. She was born on June 26, 1927 in Yorktown, Texas to Hubert Leopold Menn and Martha Poch Menn. After high school she attended Texas Lutheran College in Seguin for two years, later transferring to the University of Texas where she graduated with a bachelor's degree in home economics.
At UT she met and married John Wilbur Knight, her husband of 58 years. After moving to Groves, and then to Denver City for teaching, the couple resided in Dallas for 6 years, and then relocated to Houston in 1957. Once her four children were in school, Marian began a teaching career. She spent 3 years teaching pre-school at Chapelwood Methodist Church, followed by 17 years of kindergarten and first grade at Foster Elementary in Kingwood, and then substituted for several years after retiring.
Marian is survived by her four children, Mike Knight of Onalaska, Marsha White of Austin, Jeff Knight of Cambridge, MA, and Steve Knight of Kingwood, as well as four grandchildren and three great grandchildren; her brother, Hubert Menn; and two sisters, Ruth Anderson and Martha Lindemann.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Sunday, March 30th at Holy Comforter Lutheran Church in Kingwood. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Marian Knight Memorial Fund c/o Holy Comforter Lutheran Church, 1901 Woodland Hills Drive, Kingwood, Texas 77339, (281) 358-6500.
Marian will be deeply missed, and remembered for her life of joy and faith.
