Randy Ertman Obituary

Randy Lee Ertman
A celebration of life is scheduled for Randy Ertman, 62, of Somerville, Texas at 10:00 AM September 6th, 2014 at Grace United Methodist Church. 1245 Heights Blvd., Houston Texas.
Mr. Ertman died Sunday August 17th at home with his wife Sandy by his side.
He was born May 29th 1952 in Lansing Michigan to Harold Ertman and Georgia Sue (Hamilton) Ertman. He worked as a Painter.
After his daughter Jennifer and friend Elizabeth were murdered in 1993, he devoted all of his time implementing the passing of the Victims Advocates bill. Through his work victims can make a "Victim Impact Statement" during the trial after the sentencing has been decided and the victim's families can attend the execution of the person responsible for killing their loved one(s) in a capital murder. Randy and Sandy, as well as Elizabeth's parents, became the faces and social conscience of CRIME VICTIMS IN Harris County. His hobby's were working in his flower gardens and fishing. He could sit by the Lake for hours with a line in the water. He found peace living in Somerville by the Lake.
He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter Jennifer Ertman
Survivors include his wife Sandy, Sister Anita Ertman, brother-n-law, LD Robinson. Niece: Lisa Knowles (Mike), their children Ashley and Robert Harriman. Nephew Tim Subcliffe and many loving Cousins from Michigan and Colorado
Funeral arrangements are by Koenig-Strickland in LaGrange.
Donations can be made to Hospice Brazos Valley

Randy, somehow i feel distantly connected to you, i moved to Houston in '69, and in the early/mid '70's rode dirt bikes with many friends there in White Oak Bayou in the immediate location of where Jennifer and Elizabeth crossed paths with that terrible group of young men in '93. Little did anyone of us know what lie ahead there some 18 years later, in '93. Although i have moved from Houston in '06 i want to make it a point to visit the Memorial at T.C.Jester park. I wished i could have met your family and the Pena's during those mourning times to wish my sincere condolences. I even used to go to Sommerville Lake in the '70's before you found relaxation there. May God Bless your family, the Pena's, and the entire families,,, i will never forget any of you,,, sincerely David Garcia
