I'll always remember Herman going back to his boxing days. His brother, Tony, and I worked together as teens and have remained friends. Love to the Lauhoff family.

Mr. Herman will forever be in my heart, its been six days since I spent his final hours with him. Im very blessed an honored to have crossed your path.., to see your health decline has been a very hard pill to swallow. With Gods grace he carried you through to the very end without any suffering. The joy of having pictures and memories of you throughout the years makes times like this easy to carry on. To Ms. Carol you have my deepest condolences, this isn't a sad time we should continue to celebrate his home going an all the memories and dedication he's shared throughout the community and the state of Texas. Love you guys.. GOD BLESS

The Lauhoff family were my friends from my early years in the '50s, Tony being my age and working with me on several HS jobs. Herman was 3 years older so always the Big Brother. Not mentioned in the obit but I remember--his boxing days in the '50s...Saw several matches at he Washington Ave arena with Tony.. I admired Herman's civic achievements and was proud to know a "Northside Boy" who had done good. Really regret I had not seen Herman in many years. And even for Tony, the last visit was an Oilers Game in the Astrodome. Hoping I might reconnect one more time with Tony thru this sad event. Prayers and hugs to all the family and loved ones.

Herman was a major influence in my life. His love for his family, the State of Texas, work ethics, neighborhood preservation and to be someone that could make a difference will stay with me forever. As a mentor, advisor and mostly friend to me and my family, his passing leaves a large void. There's a special place in heaven for Herman. I'm sure he will hand me a book to read the next time I see him.

My deepest sympathy goes out to Herman's family. He served his community and the State of Texas with great distinction. I treasure the memories of working with Herman and Carol during our campaigns and our tenure in the Texas House of Representatives.
