Titus Colaco Obituary

TITUS J. COLACO
1944-2016
Titus Joseph Colaço, beloved husband, father, brother, and friend passed away in the mountains outside of Axum, Ethiopia on October 7, 2016 at the age of 72.
Titus was born May 28, 1944, in Madethalke, outside of Moodabidri, India to the late Lawrence Santan and Felcian Colaço. As the eldest of five children, he loved to climb the highest coconut trees and swim and fish in the river nearby his ancestral home. Despite his humble background, Titus received a coveted spot at Saint Aloysius College in Mangalore and went on to complete his Electrical Engineering degree at the Regional Engineering College in Calicut. After graduation, he was selected as an Officer in the Indian Army and then moved on to teach at Don Bosco School in New Delhi.
Titus and Mable got married in Mangalore, India in December 1972. He then moved to Kuwait and began his career in the oil business. Two children followed, Glenn in 1975, and Donna in 1977. In 1975, Titus worked in Italy, where he cherished his time learning Italian and developed an appreciation for red wine, even at lunch.
To pursue additional opportunities, the family moved to Houston, TX in 1980. After a productive period as an independent inspector in the oil business, he started his own company, Lonestar Couplings. As a successful and astute business man, he created opportunity for himself and others and was generous to the core.
A diamond in the rough, Titus was tough to crack - hard on the outside, but beautiful once you got through the rough exterior. Titus possessed all the noble qualities of a true leader - honest, confident, forthright, committed, courageous, passionate, optimistic, industrious, inquisitive, and inspirational.
Larger than life, Titus loved whiskey, guns, and fast cars. He always kept his mind active and did not sit still. Titus always pursued happiness and became a true Texan - he loved eating steak, BBQ, Mexican food, Mariachi music, and even became conversant in Spanish. He thrived on making people laugh and telling stories over a bottle of red wine. True to his roots, Titus was passionate about his animal farm and raised horses, cows, pigs, goats, peacocks, chicken, and a geese and bountiful harvests of fruit trees and Indian vegetables from his green thumb.
A great loss to the community, Titus will be truly missed and never forgotten. He is survived by his wife Mable; son Glenn and wife Erin; daughter Donna; siblings Rudolph, Stany, Leena and Elvira; and loyal dog Sally.
A Vigil and Rosary service will be held on Sunday, Oct. 16, at 5:30 pm at Klein Funeral Home, 16131 Champion Forest Dr., Spring, TX 77379. The Funeral Mass will be held Monday, Oct. 17 at 11 a.m. at St. Ignatius Loyola Catholic Community, 7810 Cypresswood Dr., Spring, TX 77379, followed by interment in Klein Memorial Park, FM 2920, Tomball. Immediately following, friends and family are invited to gather at St. Ignatius Sexton Hall to celebrate his life with a late lunch.

Dear Mable, Donna and Glen,

Alina and I were shocked and saddened by the untimely demise of Titus. We actually heard it thru my brother in Mangalore from obituary column in Daijiworld, as we had no news of it before. Actually, we are on a India trip, to mostly attend my niece's wedding in Mangalore...

I was one of the first to have met Titus when he came over from Middle East, alone at first. Even as he was concerned about Immigration, job and other needs, he was most homesick about his family and as we had a few members in our home, we were able to provide some comfort to him, whenever he came over. He also loved gardening so much -- he would even come and help out with our small garden.

We lost touch as we moved up east -- but, his loving, fun seeking and helpful personality has been in our hearts and will continue to be.

May God continue to give him eternal rest and look after all of you.

Mable, we will call you when we return to USA.

Love, Alina & Victor

We were saddened to learn of Titus' death. When Glen called, it took a while to absorb the news. Titus and I have been friends for 35 years. I met him when he was a code inspector and I was a structural inspector at Exxon Refineries. We became friends and spent many hours offshore fishing. I watched his children grow up, taught Glen to fish, and sold Titus his first boat. He never did anything half way. Enjoyed spending time with he and Mable and appreciated their friendship. My heart goes out to Mable, Glen and Erin, Donna, his other family members and his trusted employees. His death is a great loss to me personally. Until we are together again, blue skies and fair seas.
