Mrs Baun, I was so sorry to hear of Bill's passing. I served under him at Nothpoint Germany from '73 to '74. I worked in the motor pool. I remember you ran the library as I always there to get something to read.

What do you call the moment when you experience kindness; which is an answered prayer that only you know?
The moment you feel the spiritual connection beyond explanation; in the universe?
When humans blend and see each other's souls and not our physical?
When someone helps you heal by words spoken miles away; yet you can feel the warm hug?
And lastly; who continues to whisper in each step i take that am brave, smart and stronger?
Who never left my side through my divorce while struggling with his illness?
And who has left a legacy that has touched lives in different continents that will surpass time?
Asante Sana! Thanks for everything!
Be Well Bill - My spiritual coach.

It was a privilege for me to be on Bill's wellness team at MD Anderson from 2004-2010. He will forever be my favorite manager!!! What a leader!
I was the dietitian on the team and Bill's guidance was extraordinary. When I faced an obstacle, he talked me through it. When I needed a visionary, he was THERE! When I needed inspiration, he gave it. What a man!
He always encouraged "face-to-face" encounters. I can see him: walking the halls of MDAH at 6mph (almost running!), riding that scooter with all sorts of contraptions strapped to it, eating 1/2 jar of peanut butter in one sitting, but most of all--I will remember him smiling and enjoying the moments! What joy he possessed!
Bill has shed his earth suit and resides now in his heavenly body with his Lord and Savior.
Peace to all his loved ones. I thank God I got to learn from WBB.
Be well!

Bill will always be remembered for his extraordinary leadership and his generous nature. His love for his wife MaryBeth, family, friends, coworkers, colleagues and community was legion. He shined the brightest light in the wellness world, revealing a path that helped thousands. I can't imagine our family at National Wellness Institute without him...but am grateful for all the days we shared.

To Marybeth, Kaleb, Chandra and all those who were touched by Bill, I hope you fine comfort in knowing he was an amazing person and left his legacy for others to follow. I met Bill in June 1983 when I was 17 years old; first time in Corporate America and very nervous. Although, I tried to hide my fear, Bill immediately sensed it and made me feel welcome. He asked me if I was from Louisiana and I explained my roots are (parents and grandparents); and I believe he said he was from Baton Rouge. I felt better already because he was like family (Louisiana people are like that); and later, this team under the leadership of Dr. Ed Bernacki and Glenna Scharon formed a family, our Tenneco Group, more than 30 years ago; and, to this day, we gather annually. Bill will be greatly missed by us so I can only imagine how much his lovely wife and family will miss him. Although, your hearts are heavy now, may you find comfort in the Lord and be at peace in knowing he is free from all pain, suffering and illnesses. He lived life to the fullest and did not let cancer beat him. He beat it and taught others how to by living life to the fullest, keeping a positive attitude, loving his family and through his faith. May the peace of the Lord be with you always.
With Sincere Sympathy,
Adrienne Howarth-Moore

Bill was a bright light to so many. He was a gracious colleague and personal friend. Although in separate cities, we frequently exchanged emails encouraging one another through our health struggles. The legacy of his wellness work and his beautiful thoughts expressed through written words will shine on. In sympathy, -Adrienne

Lee and I were so sorry to hear about Bill's death. He was very brave, right up until the end. I will never forget his courage and his resilience in the face of his cancer progression. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family during this sad time.

Bill's positive influence will continue for many years. Through his willingness to give of himself, he blessed many. Through his willingness to share openly, he taught many. Through his willingness to take risks, he opened the door for many. Thank you, MaryBeth, for sharing him with the world. My prayers are with you and your family. May God and amazing memories give you peace.

I first met Bill in June of 1996. He was my mentor for a good 6 months when I had taken a slightly different career path than many nutritionists at the time and stepped into the world of population health and corporate wellness. It was no small professional transition as it was for an employer with 11,000 employees. We talked almost daily in the early months as I got my bearings. He guided, encouraged, shared his experience, passion and wisdom for health & wellness, offered suggestions, introduced me to other colleagues, and ultimately gave me the confidence I needed to set sail on my own. I never looked back and twenty years later I am still leading population health and wellbeing efforts for a large employer. Bill gave me the solid foundation and perspective that I was able to build on.
While a lot has changed over the years, much has not and his guiding principles in 1996 still apply today.
Bill also gave me the gift of appreciating the value of mentorship for the next generation of practitioners. I take advantage of nearly every opportunity I have to precept interns, do informational interviews or guest lecture on the topic of corporate wellness.
Over the years we occasionally ran into each other at conferences and kept in touch at least once a year on December 17-a shared birthday. And then thanks to social media, Bill was once again providing inspiration.
I am deeply saddened that he has passed and send my heartfelt condolences to MaryBeth, Kaleb, Chandra and to the rest of the extended Baun family. Bill was a special guy and touched many lives including mine. He was one of the brightest stars in the wellness galaxy. I hope that happy memories give you all great peace and comfort always.
