Chester "Hal" Carroll passed away at his home in Houston, Texas on Thursday, May 11, 2017 at the age of 62 due to complications with a glioblastoma tumor. Hal was born June 5, 1954 in Memphis, TN.
Hal graduated in 1972 from Northshore High School in Houston, TX and attended the University of Houston. In 2006, he began working independently as a consultant under CH Carroll & Associates as an investor with Texas Belvedere, LLC. He was working as a realtor in Mid-Town Houston with Better Homes and Garden Real Estate Gary Greene at the time of his passing. Hal held several influential IT project management positions throughout his career. His training began with the Panhandle Eastern Corp from 1973-1991, then off to serve as a Principal Consultant with InPower, Inc. then a Practice Manager with Oracle, Inc. from 1998 until 2003. In 2003, Hal worked as a Manager of Oracle Applications with Friedkin Information Technology, the IT organization of Gulf States Toyota.
Hal was the beloved husband of Ruben Perez. He is survived by his mother, Izeal R. Murdoch, his sister, Sharon K. Wright and brother-in law, Joe W. Wright, III; two nieces, Kimberly C. Barfield and Kelly R. Ferris and her husband William J. Ferris. Additionally, Hal was also the Great-Uncle to Ashley, William, Michael, Kira, Zachary and Kaitlyn. He was preceded in death by his father, Chester Olian Carroll.
Hal possessed a mixture of sincerity, humor and childlike awe for life that drew people to him like a magnet. He always made time for his family and friends and each person has their own "Hal Story" that speaks volumes of the impact he made on this world.
We are so grateful for the wonderful care and compassion Hal received from all his doctors, nurses, and aids during this past year. They made a very difficult journey easier with the only means a heart can be comforted – compassion, tender care, and genuine affection. In particular we acknowledge the following people who went above and beyond for Hal when he was at his most vulnerable state. Thank you is simply not enough to express our level of gratitude to Dr. Yvonne Kew his oncologist, Dr. Sujit Prabhu, Anahi Bravo, Kristin Beck, and Ronnie Johnson.
A memorial Celebration of Hal's life will be held on the fourth floor of the Alley Theater, 615 Texas Ave., in Houston, TX on Saturday, June 10, 2017, 6-8:30 PM.
