BEATRICE REYES AKAGI passed away on June 1, 2004, in Houston, TX, at age 92. Born on February 24, 1912, in Booth, Fort Bend County, TX. Preceded in death by her parents Luis Reyes and Francisca Loya Morales, her husband Torata Akagi, daughter Nellie Akagi and her half sister Lucy Garcia. Survived by two sons, Henry J. Akagi and wife Juanita of Rusk and Comdr. (ret.) Joe L. Akagi of Milton, FL, and two daughters, Betty J. Coker and husband Judge Bill Coker of Dallas, and Bessie J. Davis of Houston. Also surviving her are grandchildren John, David and Aimee Akagi, Laura Plowman, Cynthia Pyle and Rebecca Smith, Kyle and Cheney Coker, Forrest, Susan and Merry Davis, and Kathleen Duff, 13 great grandchildren and two half-sisters Mary F. Ramirez of Houston and Albina Villalovas of Banning, CA. Beatrice was a member of First Presbyterian Church, 5300 Main Street, Houston, where memorial services will be held on Saturday, June 5, 2004, at 12:00 noon, with reception following. A private interment at the Church will precede the services. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Grace Presbyterian Village Caring Fund, 550 E. Ann Arbor, Dallas, TX 75216.
