Stein, Joyce Bailar
Joyce Bailar Stein age 86 of Manitowoc, died peacefully Monday, April 1, 2013 at her residence.
Joyce was born August 29, 1926 in Neenah daughter of the late Charles and Ruth (Jones) Bailar. Joyce attended school in Menasha and graduated with the class of 1944 from Menasha High School. In May of 1946 Joyce graduated from MacMurray College in Jacksonville, IL where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in education. On July 15, 1950 Joyce married Calvin A. Stein. Joyce was employed as a Kindergarten and First Grade Teacher for the Manitowoc Public School System until her retirement in 1989. She was an active member of St. James Episcopal Church and St. James Faith's Guild. Joyce was a past president of AAUW and a member of the Elk's Ladies Auxiliary. Joyce and her husband Cal built their lake home on Wolf Lake, Northern Wisconsin, where they also owned 80 acres of hunting land. Many hours of fishing, hunting and swimming were enjoyed there.
Survivors include her husband: Calvin A. Stein, Manitowoc; four children: Suzanne (Gary) Chase, Jeffrey (Deborah) Stein; Robert (Jayna) Stein; Barbara (Paul) Waldorf; 22 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; one brother: Rev. Richard J. (Friedel) Bailar.
A Memorial service took place on Thursday April 4, 2013 at St. James Episcopal Church. Rev. Diane Murray officiated. The Jens Family Funeral Home & Crematory assisted the Stein family with funeral arrangements. Online condolences may be expressed at www.jensreinboldandpfeffer.com

Uncle Cal, I was saddened to hear of Aunt Joyce's passing. I know we haven't seen each other in a long long time,but after all family is family. My prayers are with you and yours in this the saddest of times. Love,Debbie

Whenever I think of Joyce I recall a kind, gentle lady with the most pleasant smile. I was also a kindergarten teacher and always looked up to Joyce for any ideas or helpful hints. She was a special lady,may all those precious memories help you through this sad time.
