Herrmann, Herbert E.
Herbert E. Herrmann, age 84, of 1737 Cedar Court, Manitowoc, Wisconsin entered eternal life Monday evening, July 29, 2013 surrounded by his family at his residence.
Herb was born March 23, 1929 in the town of Kossuth, Manitowoc County. He was the son of the late Clarence and Clara Slager Herrmann. Herb attended Lincoln High School and graduated with the class of 1947. From 1947 to 1954 Herb was employed with Branch Cheese Company, then he became employed with Jageman Plating Company, Lake to Lake Company for five years and then returned to Branch Cheese Company for 25 years retiring in 1994. On August 9, 1949 he married Dorothy Hopf at Holy Innocents Catholic Church in Manitowoc. Herb was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church where he had been active as an usher. He was a member of the Branch Fire Department for 31 years and was the Fire Chief for 25 years. Herb also belonged to the Manitowoc Rifle and Pistol Club, Valders Viking Bow and Gun Club, and the Whitelaw Sportsman's Club.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years: Dorothy; two sons and daughters-in-law: Gerald and Nancy Herrmann, Francis Creek, WI; Thomas and Barbara Herrmann, Manitowoc, WI; two daughters: Diane Zingler, Green Bay, WI; Beverly Herrmann and Louis Osswald, Hubertus, WI; seven grandchildren, eight great grandchildren along with other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents: Clarence and Clara Herrmann.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 3, 2013 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church on Waldo. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Dave Pleier with entombment to follow at Knollwood Mausoleum. Relatives and friends may call at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home on Friday, August 2, 2013 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a prayer service to be held at 7:00 p.m. lead by Deacon Paul Kieffer. The visitation will continue on Saturday at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church on Waldo from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services at 10:00 a.m.
