Czechanski, Alvin J.
Alvin J. Czechanski, age 84, formerly of 1446 Hawthorne Ave., Two Rivers, died peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Wednesday, June 12, 2013, at Shady Lane Nursing Care Center, Manitowoc.
Alvin was born September 7, 1928, in Two Rivers, a son of the late Albert and Edith (Kadow) Czechanski. He attended St. Luke's Catholic Grade School and graduated from Two Rivers Washington High School with the Class of 1946. On July 22, 1950, he married Lorraine M. Dassey at Holy Innocents Catholic Church, Manitowoc. She preceded him in death on May 22, 2012. Alvin served in the U.S. Marine Corps
during the Korean War
from December 1951 to December 1953. He was employed for a few years at the Metal Ware Corp. and then worked for over 30 years at Paragon Electric Co. until his retirement. Alvin enjoyed family gatherings - he was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He enjoyed the outdoors, playing dartball, and was an excellent fisherman. He loved to sing and was a member of several choirs in Two Rivers. Al was always very proud of the military service he gave his country as a member of the U.S. Marine Corps.
Survivors include three sons and two daughters-in-law, David "Chick" and Kathleen Czechanski, Two Rivers, Mark and Sherrie Czechanski, Manitowoc, and Kevin Czechanski, Two Rivers; six cherished grandchildren: Kelley (Chris) Halstrom, Jill (Shane) Jagodinsky, Andy (Erin) Czechanski, Becky Czechanski, Marris Czechanski, and Vincent Czechanski; and five great grandchildren: Alexa, Tyler, Jordyn, Layla, and Jack. He is further survived by two sisters: Elaine Walkner, Fond du Lac, and Marie (Louie) Weber, Manitowoc; and a brother-in-law, Erv (Sharon) Dassey, Manitowoc; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents and wife, he was also preceded in death by a brother: Bob (Marilyn) Czechanski.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 18, 2013, at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church, 3218 Tannery Rd., Two Rivers. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Dick Mauthe, with burial to follow in Knollwood Memorial Park, Hwy. 310, Manitowoc. Military graveside rites will be accorded at the church immediately following the mass by members of the American Legion Post #165 and VFW
Post # 1248 of Two Rivers.
The family will greet relatives and friends at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church after 9:00 a.m. Tuesday morning until the time of Mass at 11:00 a.m. There will be no Monday evening visitation.
