Bernier, Charles "Bud'
Charles "Bud" Bernier, 62, a resident of Larrabee, entered into eternal rest Friday February 8, 2013, at his residence. Chuck was born January 8, 1951, in Manitowoc, to Charles and Lorraine Taicher Bernier and has been a lifelong area resident. He was a graduate of the Denmark High School, graduating with the class of 1969. Chuck served his country in the United States Army
, and then later in the United States Navy
. He married the former Kathleen Maly on November 6, 1982, at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Mishicot. Chuck was employed as an over the road truck driver for many years, and also worked for the DBT Transport Company. He drove Tour Bus for Sunset Tours, of Valders, and currently owned and operated an Organic Farm. He enjoyed cutting wood and being in the outdoors, tractor pulling his John Deere A, "Never Enough", collecting John Deere tractors, and taking motorcycle trips. He also enjoyed restoring his 1932 Ford dump-truck. He had a great love for his organic farming career. Chuck was a member of the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 24, of Manitowoc.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy; two sons and daughters-in-law, Mark and Marie Tuma, of Valders; Steve and Sarah Tuma, of Manitowoc; four grandchildren, Ashley (Tim) Henneman, Kyle, Kaden, and Shawn Tuma; his mother, Lorraine Bernier, of Maribel; and by one brother, Greg Bernier, of AZ; three sisters, Karen Bernier, of Montana; Noreen Umentum, of Green Bay; and Annette (Ken) Barentine, of Utah. He is further survived by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Milton and Rosella Maly, of Larrabee; his brothers-in-law, and sisters-in-law, John and Pat Maly, of Manitowoc; Mike Maly, of Manitowoc; Nancy and Allan Patch, of San Diego; aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Bernier.
A memorial service for Chuck will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday, February 15, 2013, at the Lambert-Eckert Funeral Home, 344 So. State St. Mishicot, with Pastor Brett LaChapelle officiating. Relatives and friends may call after 3 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home, until the time of service at 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in his name.
