Klusmeyer, Elroy H.
Elroy H. Klusmeyer, age 88, of 1420 N. 5th St., Manitowoc, was taken home by his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ early Wednesday morning, November 21, 2012 at the Manitowoc Health and Rehabilitation Center with his family at his side.
Elroy was born on September 16, 1924 in Manitowoc, son of the late Walter and Dora (Hoeffner) Klusmeyer. He grew up in Manitowoc and was a 1943 graduate of Manitowoc Lincoln High School. On May 26, 1944, Elroy was inducted into the United States Army
serving in the 42nd Infantry Division in the European Theatre. He was wounded twice in battle receiving the Silver Star, Purple Heart
and the 1st Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster. He was discharged on June 29, 1946. On September 11, 1948, he married Lola Ferry at Denmark. Elroy worked for Kerscher Metal Service in Manitowoc and retired from Temperature Systems of Green Bay. He enjoyed woodworking as a pastime. Elroy was a member of Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his wife: Lola Klusmeyer, Manitowoc; one son and daughter-in-law: Pastor Tom (Nancy) Klusmeyer, Wautoma; one daughter and son-in-law: Susan (Jon) Haala, Manitowoc; three grandchildren: Jeremy (Gina) Haala; Nathan (Ahnsharee) Klusmeyer; Hannah Klusmeyer; four great grand children: Kaliska, Thomas and Grant Klusmeyer, Jensen Haala; three sisters and one brother-in-law: Marion (Leroy) Nell, Johnson Creek; Edith Luckow, Manitowoc; Lorretta Kroening, Burnsville, MN; three sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law: Lorretta Klusmeyer, Manitowoc; Rosie (Frank) Kreisa, Lake Havasu City, AZ; Elaine Smith, Kaukauna and her special friend Ron Gassner; nieces, nephews other relatives and friends survive. He was preceded in death by his parents: Walter and Dora Klusmeyer; two brothers and one sister-in-law: Harold (Oneitha) Klusmeyer; Emmet Klusmeyer; two sisters and brothers-in-law: Dorothy (Elmer) Vogt; Ethel (Kenneth) Seefeldt; four brothers-in-law and two sisters-in-law: Robert Luckow; Donald Kroening; Cliff (Marilyn) Ferry; June (Erwin) Treptow.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, November 24, 2012 at Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church, 916 Pine St., Manitowoc. Rev. Nicholas Maglietto and Rev. Paul Schossow will officiate with entombment of his cremated remains at the Knollwood Mausoleum at a later date. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at 2:30 p.m. A luncheon will follow the services in the church fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers memorial donations would be appreciated for Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church, Manitowoc Lutheran High School or Camp Phillip at Wautoma.
