Eunice M. Braun "Tootie", age 89, formerly of 6326 Johnston Drive, Shoto, died Tuesday evening, December 18, 2012, at Walnut Grove Assisted Living, Manitowoc.
Eunice was born April 4, 1923, in Shoto, daughter of the late Roland and Viola (Schimmel) Meissner. She was a graduate of Washington High School, Two Rivers. On April 29, 1950, Eunice married Edward J. Braun in Manitowoc. He preceded her in death on January 11, 1974. She was employed at Riverside Seafoods until her retirement. Eunice enjoyed playing Sheepshead, was a member of the Two Rivers Senior Center, Mishicot Senior Center, the town of Two Rivers Fire Dept. Woman's Auxiliary, and a lifetime member of the Shoto Conservation Club. Eunice was a loving and compassionate mother, grandmother, sister and best friend to many. She was a blessing in all of our lives and was always there when we needed her. She will be greatly missed.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law: Jim and Cindy Braun, Mishicot; one daughter-in-law: Sue (Dennis) Johnson, Grafton; two granddaughters: Ashley (Dan) Schuster, West Bend; Bryana (special friend Andy Vandenhouten) Braun, Shoto; three great grandsons: Garrett, Aidan, Noah; and a great granddaughter on the way; three sisters and one brother-in-law: Donna and Roy Petska, Shoto; Shirley Holly, Sanford, NC; Ione Kornely, Shoto; two brothers and sisters-in-law: Paul and Janice Meissner, Roland and Grace Meissner, Jr., both of Shoto; and two sisters-in-law: Laverne "Susie" Skwor, Mishicot; and Margaret Meissner, Shoto. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive.
She was preceded in death by one son, Edward C. Braun "Buddy", four brothers and three sisters-in-law: Vernon and Bonnie Meissner, Kenneth and Elaine Meissner, Glenn Meissner, Daniel and Rose Meissner; two brothers-in-law: Tony Kornely, Chuck Holly; and a special friend, Delores Kornely.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 22, 2012, at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church, Two Rivers. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be Rev. Tom Reynebeau. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Two Rivers.
The family will greet relatives and friends on Friday evening, December 21, 2012, at Klein & Stangel Funeral Home, Two Rivers, from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. A prayer service will be held at 7:30 p.m. led by Sister Pat Touhey. Visitation will continue on Saturday at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church from 8:30 until 9:45 a.m.
