Buechel, Francis A.
Francis Buechel, 84, of Jericho, passed away on Wednesday, January 9, 2013, surrounded by his caring family. He was born on December 3, 1928, the son of the late Edwin and Helen (Sabel) Buechel. He married Alyce Korb at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Marytown, on February 23, 1949, on a beautiful, sunny day.
After Francis was married, he purchased the family farm from his father and in 1964, developed it into Buechel's Stone Quarry. Francis was a visionary building a quarry and establishing a business in an area where farming dominated the landscape. It was at the quarry that Francis fondly became known as "Pa" to more than just his family.
Francis' favorite past time throughout his life was holding hands with his wife, Alyce, whether in Church or in the mall. Together, they enjoyed traveling and meeting new people on their adventures. In retirement, Francis enjoyed building nativity stables and giving them to family and friends. He spent his summers cutting his lawn with his push mower and taking care of his flower beds. Francis also had a love of animals, especially "Kitty", a stray cat he took in to his home three years ago.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years Alyce Buechel; six children, Linda (Rich) Hoerth of Chilton and their children, Theresa (Ken) Flemming, Amy (Kevin) Beil, Lisa Hoerth; Dennis (Renee) Buechel of Fond du Lac, and their children, Joe (Jeannie) Buechel, Jason (Jen) Buechel, and Jesse (Jenny) Buechel: Tim (Sandy) Buechel of Chilton and their family, Mike (Nikki) Buechel and Jason (Angela) Hoefler; Scott Buechel of Chilton and his family Shaun Buechel and Dominique Buechel; Pam (David) Petrie of New Holstein and their family Bradly Petrie (special friend, Leah Vaith) and Jamie Petrie; Ann (Glen) Calnin of Chilton and their family, Elise, Alexandria, Duncan, and Patrick.
