Frank W. Vogel, age 84, a resident of Manitowoc Health & Rehabilitation Center, formerly of 2422 13th St., Two Rivers, died on Sunday, July 21, 2013 at the Health Care Center.

In January, 1951 he was inducted in to the U.S. Army, serving with Company E 179 Infantry Regiment. He was wounded in action during the Korean War, and taken prisoner of war from June, 1952 until August, 1953. Sgt. Vogel was later honorably discharged and received several military commendations including the Purple Heart. On May 4, 1955, he married Joan M. Krummel at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Mishicot. Joan preceded him in death on March 30, 2004. Frank worked at several area factories, retiring from Hamilton Industries in 1991. During the early 1960's, he also operated a dairy farm in the Two Creeks area; and during the 1970's and 80's he also ran his own wedding photography business. He and Joan volunteered many hours to the Meals-On-Wheels program over the years. He was a member of St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church, Two Rivers, and the Men of St. Peter the Fisherman.

Frank was a fun-loving man who loved playing practical jokes, telling stories, fishing, gardening, cooking, woodworking, getting together with family and friends, watching WWF wrestling, and listening to Brewer baseball around a backyard fire. He was a great help to his children whenever needed and to his grandchildren who all have many wonderful memories and stories about Grandpa Frank. Even when his health started failing 2 years ago and he had to move into the nursing home, his positive attitude made life easier for himself and those around him. Frank made many friends at the home and enjoyed the friendship of the caring staff there.
