Gilbert E. Schultz

Schultz, Gilbert E.

Gilbert E. Schultz, 87 of Brillion, formerly of Wayside, died unexpectedly on Sunday, February 24, 2013, at Brillion West Haven.

He was born March 31, 1925, in the Town of Morrison to the late Arthur Sr. and Margaret (Plautz) Schultz. He attended Zion Wayside Lutheran School. Gilbert married Elda Schwahn October 4, 1947, at Zion Lutheran Church, Morrison. He sang in the church choir and served on many committees and boards at Zion Lutheran Wayside.

Gilbert had many loves in his life. First was his beloved wife, Elda. She passed away 56 years ago but to talk to him the light in his eye would lead you to believe she was always nearby. Gilbert had a love of music that he shared with his children and grandchildren. He taught them all to play a variety of instruments and took the family around to share their musical talents within the community. He mentioned that he would get a gallon of ice cream for his kids as a reward for practicing their music although the ice cream may have been more for him. He had a love for farming and animals as he farmed into his early 70's. Throughout it all he had a love for sports. Gilbert especially loved watching sporting events where his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren participated. He was always ready to chat and talk to everyone he encountered but he would never say good-bye; he would always say "Auf Wiedersehen" which is "see you again" in German. So, now we say to you, Gilbert, "Auf Wiedersehen".
