Harvey "Ole" Emil Waack, age 82, of 308 Briarcliff Road in Reedsville, passed away on Saturday, December 8, 2012 at Manitowoc Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Harvey was born on March 10, 1930 in the town of Rockland, son of the late Emil and Bertha (Bubolz) Waack. He was a lifelong member of St. John St. James Lutheran Church in Reedsville. He attended St. John St. James Lutheran School and was confirmed at St. John St. James, Lutheran Church in May 28, 1944. Harvey was a graduate of Reedsville High School, class of 1948. He was proud to be a member of the 1946 Reedsville State Champion Basketball team. On November 15, 1952, Harvey married Charmaine Eickert at Trinity Lutheran Church in Brillion. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this year. The couple owned and operated their farm together with the help of their family. On January 1, 1979, the farm became Waack Family Farms, Inc., and is still in existence today, carried on by his son and grandsons. Along with farming over the years, Harvey was a milk hauler, was a Reedsville Co-op Board Member and Secretary, was church council member and secretary, was on the Collins State Bank Board, and worked at the Equity part-time. He loved working on the farm, especially driving combine, watching the Packers, Badgers, Brewers, and High School sports on the television, and spending time with his family.
Harvey is survived by his wife of 60 years, Charmaine of Reedsville; one son Gary Waack of Reedsville; one daughter and son-in-law: Gail (Brian) Haas of Reedsville; five grandchildren: Tim (Amy) Waack of Reedsville, Troy Waack of Manitowoc, Chris Waack and special friend Stacey of Manitowoc, Carrie Waack and special friend Paul of Green Bay, and Bryce Haas of Reedsville; one brother and two sisters-in-law: Ervin (Elaine) Waack of Valders and June Waack of Manitowoc; one sister: Ida Mae Krepline of Brillion; four brothers-in-law: Norman (Caroline) Krahn, Bob (Dolores) Eickert, Gerald (Bonita) Eickert, and Ronald (Glenda) Eickert all of Brillion; special relative Carson Stark; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
He was preceded in death by a great-grandson: Brendon Waack, one brother: Elroy Waack, one sister: Betty Krahn, and one brother-in-law: Orville Krepline.
Funeral Service for Harvey will be held at 12:00 p.m. (NOON) on Thursday, December 13, 2012 at St. John St. James Lutheran Church in Reedsville. Officiating at the service will be the Rev. Timothy Nommensen with entombment at Knollwood Mausoleum in the town of Kossuth.
Friends may call at the church on Wednesday, December 12, 2012 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., and again on Thursday morning from 9:00 a.m. until 11:45 a.m.
