Flegle, Howard D.
Howard D. Flegle, age 86, died peacefully on October 21, 2013, at Northland Lodge, Two Rivers, surrounded by his loving family. Howard was born on March 9, 1927, in Two Rivers, son of the late John and Emma (Funk) Flegle. He was a graduate of Washington High School, Two Rivers, class of 1945. Howard served in the U.S. Navy
during WW II in the Pacific Theater. In 2011, he was proud to travel on the Navy Honor Flight to Washington, DC.
Howard met the love of his life, Evelyn Brull, at the eastside skating rink in 1942. They wed on October 4, 1947, at St. Luke Catholic Church, Two Rivers. He worked at Mirro Aluminum Company his entire working carreer and retired as a Foreman in 1989. He loved bowling and bowled in a league until March, 2013. For many years Howard golfed at Fairview Country Club, achieving a hole-in-one in 1992. Howard was well known throughout the state for his wood working abilities, especially ship's wheels, seagulls and nut crackers. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 1957, and past Grand Knight. He was also a member of St. Peter the Fisherman Men's Club and sang for many years in the Coming Home Funeral Choir.
Survivors include his wife, Evelyn, and four children: Joy and Jerry Walters, Allan and Karen Flegle, Bonnie and Steve Bonin, all of Two Rivers, and Patrick Flegle (special friend Mary), Neenah. He is further survived by nine grand children: ten great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter. Also surviving are two sisters, one brother-in-law and one sister-in-law: Elaine Schuetze, Manitowoc: Carol (Bill) Grenier, Sun Prairie; and Alice Dobinski, King. Other family and friends also survive.
Howard was preceded in death by his parents; in-laws: Theodore and Clara Brull, brothers-in-law and sister-in-law: Robert and Millie Dodge, Sylvester Dobinski, Ralph Schuetze; and three great grandchildren: Jake Walters and infants, Morgan and Ericha.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, October 25, 2013, at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church, Two Rivers. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be Rev. Tom Reynebeau. Military Honors will be accorded by the Two Rivers V.F.W
. and American Legion following Mass. Entombment will be at Knollwood Mausoleum, town of Kossuth, at a later date.
The family will greet relatives and friends at church on Friday, October 25, 2013, from 9:00 a.m. until 10:15 a.m.
