Lori A. Woelfel
Lori A. Woelfel, 51, of Newton passed away Friday evening, December 21, 2012 at Sharon S. Richardson Hospice Center with her family at her side after a courageous battle with cancer. She is the former Lori Riesterer, born January 16, 1961 in West Allis, WI., daughter of Juanita (Koenig) Riesterer and the late Francis "Shorty" Riesterer. Lori was a 1979 graduate of Kiel High School. On September 13, 1980 she was united in marriage to Jeffry Woelfel at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Kiel. Lori graduated with high honors from LTC in Cleveland in 1992 with an associates degree in accounting. For the past 12 years she was the Benefits Administrator for the City of Sheboygan. Lori had previously worked for LTC, Kohler Co. and Kaytee Products. She was an active member of Bethel UCC, where for the past year she served as Secretary for the Church Consistory. Lori loved the outdoors, she achieved the designation of Master Gardener and was a former member of the Flowers & Feathers Garden Club. Lori and Jeff were also members of the Louis Corners Sno-Birds. In her free time she enjoyed traveling, gardening, bird watching, artistic painting & photography. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandsons.
Survivors include her husband; Jeffry, of Newton, a daughter; Jill (Jeff) Zimmermann and their children, Collin, Peyton & Brennan of Elkhart Lake, a son; Josh Woelfel (special friend Kelly Walesh) and her daughter Lexus of Kiel, her mother; Juanita Riesterer of Kiel , two brothers; Mark (Lindy) Riesterer, Glen (Renae) Riesterer both of Kiel, a sister; Lynn Riesterer of Sheboygan Falls, mother-in-law; Janice Woelfel of Kiel, brothers-in-law & sisters-in-law; Michael (Cindy) Woelfel of Sheboygan, Jody (Dennis) Koenig, Lois Woelfel, Susie Bonnett, Brian (Kris) Woelfel all of Kiel. Lori is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her father; Shorty, her birth mother; Diana Frye and her father-in-law; Leroy Woelfel.
Funeral services for Lori will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, December 27, 2012 at Bethel UCC (W4225 County Line Rd. Elkhart Lake) with Fred Meyer officiating. Family and friends may call at the Meiselwitz-Vollstedt Funeral Home on Wednesday December 26, 2012 from 4:00pm until 8:00pm and at the Church on Thursday from 9:30am until the time of services. Cremation will take place following the services.
Lori's family would like to extend a very heartfelt thank you to Dr. Markovic and the staff at the Mayo Clinic, the staff at Froedert Hospital and the Vince Lombardi Cancer Clinic and the staff at Sharon S. Richardson for all the care and compassion shown to Lori and her family.
A memorial has been established in Lori's name.
