Brey, Martha M.
Martha M. Brey, age 84, of 709 South 22nd Street, Manitowoc, died on Tuesday evening, January 8, 2013 at her home.
Martha was born on December 18, 1928 in Manitowoc, daughter of the late Frank and Martha (Popp) Mailand. She was a graduate of Lincoln High School with the class of 1947. On April 23, 1949 she married Robert E. Brey at St. Paul Catholic Church in Manitowoc. Martha was employed with Mirro Aluminum prior to her marriage and also at St. Paul and St. Andrew Parochial Grade Schools with the hot lunch program. She also volunteered for many years with the Parish Women serving funeral lunches. Martha was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, St. Paul Christian Mothers and volunteered for Meals on Wheels for 13 years.
Survivors include her husband: Robert E. Brey, Manitowoc; two daughters and one son-in-law: Cindy and Ron Torstenson, Manitowoc, Kristine Brey, Colorado; three sons and daughters-in-law: Robert W. and Therese Brey, Steven and Ruth Brey, Tom and Sherri Brey, all of Manitowoc; two grandsons: Matthew Brey and fiancée Valerie Woloszyn, Gregory (Amanda) Brey; two granddaughters: Alexandria Brey and Victoria Brey; grand daughter-in-law: Olivia Brey, Manitowoc; three great grandsons: Hayden, Trevor and Nathan Brey; two step granddaughters: Jodi (Pat) McCarty; Jamie Valley; two step great grandchildren: Nicholas McCarty and Kaitlyn Valley; one sister-in-law: Marion Mailand, Sturgeon Bay; one brother-in-law: Ray Shavlik, Green Bay. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. She was also preceded in death by one grandson: Christopher Brey; one brother: Ray Mailand; one sister: Marie Fessler; one brother-in-law and three sisters-in-law: William and Helen Brey, Betty Shavlik, Jeanette Brey; two half-brothers: Joe and Frank Mailand; one half-sister: Ida Wetenkamp.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 12, 2013 at St. Francis of Assisi on Grand. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Richard Klingeisen with burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery, Manitowoc.
The family will greet relatives and friends on Friday, January 11, 2013 at the Pfeffer Funeral Home, 928 S. 14th Street, Manitowoc, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. where a prayer service led by Deacon Alan Boeldt will conclude the visitation. The visitation will continue on Saturday morning, January 12, 2013 at the Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of morning prayers at 10:30 a.m.
