Marvin Sobel, age 94, a resident of Fieldcrest Manor, Manitowoc, died Tuesday morning, October 2, 2012 at Fieldcrest.
He was born on June 30, 1918 in Manitowoc, son of the late Joseph and Johanna (Markowski) Sobel. Marvin was employed with Manitowoc Shipbuilding as a welder. During World War II, he was the lead welding foreman on all 28 submarines produced by the Manitowoc Shipbuilding Company. After his retirement, Marvin was a welding instructor at Manitowoc area technical schools.
Survivors include many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was also preceded in death by a sister: Gertrude Rehrauer; two brothers: Joseph and Richard Sobel and an infant brother: Marcel.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, October 5, 2012 at The Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Service will be the Rev. Dave Pleier with burial at Calvary Cemetery, Manitowoc.
The family will greet relatives and friends at The Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, from 12:00 Noon on Friday, October 5, 2012 until 1:00 p.m.
